Editor’s Letter

Dear Readers,

You are holding an experiment.

When we began assembling this first volume of ARTOEND, we set ourselves a deceptively simple goal: bringing neuroaesthetics into life. We wanted to explore neuroaesthetics not as a rigid laboratory discipline, sealed behind scanners and statistics, but as an embodied experience. It is what happens every time a body meets a space, a sound presses against the skin, or a memory rises unbidden at the smell of the sea.

The journey through these pages unfolds in three movements.

We begin Without—in the realm of the aesthetically possible, viewing the physical world as the fertile ground from which aesthetic experience arises. Here, we see heartbeats turned into light and architecture stilled into meditation. We explore a sensorium that shifts like a kaleidoscope, finding new ways to make interior worlds both visible and speakable.

We then turn Within—to the aestheticizing worldview, where the first-person mind reaches outward to make sense of its surroundings. In this space, we find art in the anatomy of language, encounter books that think, and are reminded that both code and philosophy are profound ways of perceiving.

Finally, we arrive at the Dialectic—the synthesis where the corporeal and the aesthetic intertwine to outline a true neuroaesthetics of living. This section culminates in the exploration of performance as a living laboratory, the boundaries of techno-corporeality, and a compelling case for an art history with an empirical spine.

If there is one conviction running through these pages, it is this: the aesthetic is neither a luxury nor a spectacle. It is a fundamental way of being in the world, one that can be studied, certainly, but more importantly, one that must be practiced, defended, and shared.

I warmly invite you to turn the page, to perceive, to expand, to embody, and to recognize that every piece of art you see, every immersive space you step into, and every memory your body holds is a part of beauty.
